OUR MINISTRIES
SOuth Lansing Ministries
The food pantry at SLM can always use volunteers willing to answer phones, greet clients, and pack food orders on Mondays and Thursdays. In addition, non-perishable food donations are always needed and can be placed in the shopping cart (near the coat racks) at church. Visit southlansingministries.com to learn more. Financial support can be made through the website and through the church.
Prayer Shawl
Join in on the fun of community, while members of Grace knit or crochet a prayer shawl. After each shawl is completed, the group prayers over it, so you may wrap yourself in the love of friendship when you are needing extra comfort and support. If you'd like to get involved or would like a shawl, please contact Pastor Sue at sueeplatt@gmail.com.
Plarn-Makers & Mat Weavers
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. Jan will be on site on Thursday mornings from 10 am -12 pm to give direction on plarn prep (flattening, cutting shopping bags, etc.,) as well as weaving. Coffee and snacks will be available, so COME ONE, COME ALL – join in the fun and LET’S MAKE MATS!
Missions
This group works to serve in many capacities in the community and with organizations that have a global impact. From pasty bakes, working with Midwest Mission Distribution Center, to feeding the homeless, (just to name a few examples) this group strives to have a servant’s heart. To get involved email Carol Simmons at camiskellsimmons@comcast.net
SOuthside community kitchen
Grace has a team of volunteers that serves lunch on Tuesday eight times a year at the Galilee Baptist Church site. This is a two-hour commitment that involves serving a prepared meal and cleaning up afterward. There are also volunteer opportunities at the Unitarian Universalist Church site which houses the kitchen where the food is prepared and served daily. Contact Sallie Franks if interested, 517-393-8589.
Prayer Fellowship
Gather weekly on Tuesdays @ 10:00 am in the Green Room to pray for those in need, send cards, and share fellowship. Led by Susan Milligan and Judy Entenman. Send requests to Judy at entenmj@sbcglobal.net
Baby box sewing
Enjoy sewing and fellowship? This group sews for a great cause, Baby Boxes for Haiti Program. This program not only helps mothers provide a safe space for their infants in a challenging environment, but it will also be used as an incentive for women to seek pre-and post- natal care to improve their health and the health of their babies. We sew waterproof mattress covers, sheets, mosquito nets, diapers, quilts and blankets. We meet in the orange room every other Thursday starting January 22, from 1:00-5:00pm. Contact Bernice Natoli for questions - bnatoi@provide.net or stop in to learn more.
